I’m A Celebrity denies ‘losing five million viewers’ over complaints about ‘dull’ line-up

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has denied claims that they’ve lost five millions viewers after complaints that this year’s line-up is “dull”.

Despite the likes of Caitlyn Jenner and Ian Wright competing on the show, reports had claimed that viewers are switching the ITV show off.

The first episode of the show two weeks ago pulled in an amazing 10.63million viewers, while this Saturday’s show saw just 5.46million tune in, it has been claimed.

A source told The Sun: “Seemingly, some viewers haven’t stuck about after seeing who was taking part.

“There are some great names in Caitlyn Jenner and Ian Wright, but with every big star there must be lesser-known people — and some viewers think there are just too many unknowns.

“There hasn’t been heaps of drama and viewers look to be turning off in quite large numbers at the moment.”

However, several viewers are still tuning in to watch the programme on catch-up on the ITV Hub.

A spokesperson for the show told OK! online: “I’m A Celebrity is the most watched programme of the year. It is also the most watched programme for 16-34s (3.5m and 71% share) and 16-24s (1.4m and 74% share).

“If you include viewing on a Non TV device it takes the total average audience up to 11.7m viewers.

“An average audience of more than 13m watched the first episode (consolidated).

“On Saturday, we got 6.6m average and 7.2m peak. Saturday’s episode has already part-consolidated up to 8.5m viewers.

“As you know some people watch live, some people watch on the hub and other viewers watch on other devices. The consolidated figures reflect this.”
